AFCON21: CAF increase Competition Prize Money

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has increased the prize money for the African Cup of Nation (AFCON) scheduled to kick off on Sunday in Yaounde.

The competition’s take home package has been increased from the former 3.9 Million Euro as bagged home by the Algeria at the end of last competition held in Cairo, Egypt to 4.4 Million Euros, that is over 1,821,923,099.10 Naira

SportsDayonline.com gathered that the change will be an increase of five hundred thousand Euro, more than 467 Naira when compared to the previous sum bagged home by the north African.

The prize change which will be expected to get application during AFCON 21 tournament in Cameroon is expected to affect the pay package awarded to the competition second and third place teams and other top teams that will qualify for the quarter finals of the tournament.

Meanwhile, All the teams that reached the quarterfinals of the tournament in Egypt each were given the sum of over Eight Hundred thousand Euro.

The prize money of the competition has been evolving since the creation of the competition by the Confederation of African Football CAF over 65 years ago.
