Ex- International and Enyimba gaffer Finidi George has commend the super eagles coach Austine Eguaveon for what he has done with the team in the little space of time given to him as an interim coach as qualifying the country to the round 16 in the ongoing African Cup of Nation in Cameroon.

George told SportsDay in an interview that,”I am very happy with what Eguaveon is doing with the team. on short period he pit them together look at the kind of football they are playing in AFCON now.

“I must commend him because he is doing a fantastic job, he has proved the worth of local coaches if given a total support so i think Nigeria Football Federation should start thinking on that direction now and not later,” he said,

Former Ajax also disagreed with the Federation intention of appointing another foreign coach for the national team.

“We do not need any foreign coach again because Eguaveon has achieved what Rohr could not do in 5 years of his appointment but Owen did within 1 month so no need of hiring a white.

He task NFF to give Austine Eguaveon very support he need to do better in the AFCON as well prepare for the World Cup last game and take the team to Qatar 2022.

“NFF should use the money for the hiring of a foreign coach to support Austine. they should for once believe in their own and not looking for those that has nothing to offer us. we have all it takes to handle the national team and give our country what they want which is good result,” Finidi George.
