2023 WWC: Australia duo ruled out of Super Falcons clash

Date:

Australia duo Mary Fowler and Aivi Luik will not play any part in the Matildas Group B encounter against Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The co-hosts will entertain the Super Falcons at the Brisbane Stadium on Thursday.

Fowler and Luik suffered mild concussion in training on Tuesday.

“Matildas forward Mary Fowler and defender Aivi Luik will be unavailable for Thursday night’s clash with Nigeria (27 July) with both players having been ruled out after sustaining mild concussions in separate incidents at training on Tuesday, 25 July 2023,” reads a statement on the official website of the Australia Football Federation.

Fowler was in action for 85 minutes in Australia’s 1-0 victory against Republic of Ireland last Thursday.

Luik was an unused substitute in the game.
