2026 WCQ: Osimhen, Chukwueze will miss Lesotho, Zimbabwe games – Peseiro

Date:

Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze will not be part of Nigeria’a squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, according to head coach Jose Peseiro.

The duo were injured in Nigeria’s friendly against the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia last month.

While Chukwueze has returned to training, Osimhen is still recovering from the injury.

Peseiro confirmed the duo would not be called up for the games against the Likuena and Warriors.

“Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen will not be called up during the next break; we want to avoid any risks,” Peseiro told TV Play, as per Milan Reports.

“I was very sorry for their injuries: the clubs pay the players, and we constantly collaborate with them.”

The Super Eagles will entertain Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Thursday, November 16.

The encounter against Zimbabwe, billed for the Huye Stadium, will take place three days later.
