Abia Warriors, Rivers United NPFL Rescheduled Game End In Stalemate

The 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Rivers United could not breakdown a stubborn Abia Warriors at the Umuahia Township Stadium in a rescheduled matchday 9 clash on Saturday evening but the point they gained keeps them on the shoulder of group B leaders, Lobi Stars.

Abia Warriors resilience at the end was worth a point which helped them remained fourth on the log.

Meanwhile, Rivers United will have goalkeeper Darlingtin Ovunda to thank for the point gained as he capped his Man of the match performance with a penalty he saved in the 67th minute.

Rivers United are in second place, four points off top spot with a game in hand. They remain in the thick of the super six playoff race. Lobi Stars are topping the table with 19 points.

The NPFL defending champions garnered 15 points from eight games. Abia Warriors on the other hand, are fourth with 14 points from nine games.
