Abraham Has Always Been An Impressive Scorer – Boga

Another dose of accolades has come the way of in-form Chelsea of England’s Nigerian-born striker, Tammy Abraham, with one of his former colleagues in The Blues’ youth squad, Jeremie Boga declaring that he always knew the lanky lad could score great goals.

Boga, who now plays for Sassuolo of Italy, said he is happy seeing Abraham’s success in his first full season with Chelsea, and the Cote d’Ivoire winger, who left Stamford Bridge on a full transfer last year, recalled that the rave of the moment showed all along he was a good scorer.

Having passed through The Blues’ academy with Abraham before leaving Chelsea permanently for Sassuolo, the Marseille-born Ivory Coast international, who arrived at Stamford Bridge when he was 11 years old, recalled their wonderful days together at Cobham.

He is still holding fond memories of how they passed through the academy alongside several of The Blues youngsters that are now getting their opportunities in the first team under the team’s former midfield star-turned manager, Frank Lampard, who has kept a lot of faith in Abraham.

During his days with Chelsea, Boga twice won the FA Youth Cup before spending three seasons away on-loan with Stade Rennes, Granada and Birmingham City before calling it quit, but the 22-year-old forward confessed that seeing Abraham now has him thinking of a return to London.

Abraham’s soaring form has taken him into reckoning as a top contender for the English Premier League’s top scorer award and earned him a pivotal role in England’s national team, all of which Boga said do not surprise him, because he already saw early quality signs from his former mate.

Boga told Foot Mercato: “For those who do not know him, it’s impressive what he does. I’ve known him since we were little; we are of the same generation 97 in Chelsea. I know his potential. He has always been a scorer, scoring 20 to 25 goals per season in all categories of youth. So what he does today does not surprise me. I am very happy for him.”
