Ahead of their season opening game against Mailantarki Care FC of Abuja on Thursday, ABS Ilorin FC has unveiled 30 players for the Nigeria National League 2022/2023 season.
The well-attended unveiling ceremony was held at the Henry George Hotels in Ilorin amid the full glare of the media.
In his welcome address, the ABS Ilorin FC Director of Football, Alloy Chukwuemeka noted that the ceremony was a reflection of the club’s inception message which was built on a strong foundation guided by professional ethics.
“What we are doing today is a testament to our long-standing efforts of running football in line with the international best practices. We are constantly driven by the need to remain a role model for others to emulate and will never deviate from that ” he said.
Chukwuemeka, who also doubles as the Secretary of the Club Owners in Nigeria, revealed that the team which is majorly made up of young players will take the club back to the NPFL.
“Our major target remains the NPFL promotion ticket and we will ensure that we return the club to the elite league in Nigeria.”
Highlights of the ceremony were the signing of a strategic partnership on players’ development with three different football academies.
According to the ABS Director of Football, the partnership will further open up opportunities for young players across the length and breadth of Nigeria.
The academies who had their representatives signed the dotted lines at the event are Dickalo FA, Sunrise FA, and Okaa Sports FA with some of their products joining the club for the new season.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Thuraya commended the club for its giant strides in creating opportunities for footballers.
One of the player’s parents, Sanni Shehu who came from Zamfara wished the club a successful outing in the new season.
ABS FC will be hosting all their home games at the adopted home ground of Soun Stadium in Ogbomoso.
The club is drawn in the Group A1 of the NNL northern conference alongside Might Jets FC, Kogi United, EFCC FC, Hypebuzz FC and Mailantarki Care FC.
