Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman, is preparing to depart Atalanta this summer.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that this move has been planned since last year.
“The plan remains for Ademola Lookman to leave Atalanta this summer,” Romano shared.
“Atalanta will discuss the situation with Gasperini in the next 24 hours after some strong remarks, but their future plans won’t change.
This was already set for last summer, with a transfer expected to happen this year,” he wrote on X.
Lookman’s future at the Serie A club came under scrutiny following criticism from coach Gian Piero Gasperini after their 3-1 loss to Club Brugge in the Champions League play-off on Tuesday night, which led to Atalanta’s elimination with a 5-2 aggregate defeat.
Lookman scored Atalanta’s only goal of the match but missed a penalty. Gasperini expressed frustration with the Nigerian international for taking the penalty.
So far this season, Lookman has netted 15 goals and provided six assists in 28 appearances.
