Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hero, Israel Adesanya (The New Style Bender) has promised that he will ensure he travels along with co-title holder, Kamaru Usman on his next visit to Nigeria.
Speaking at the height of his week-long visit to Lagos and Ogun State, the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) interim middleweight champion said he was thrilled all the way with the sights he saw and the receptions he got.
He used the opportunity to dispel critical talk about MMA, with a terse declaration that it is not as dangerous or harmful as many people paint it to be, as he says riding motorcycles or tricycles could more hazardous.
While making his thoughts known during a chat with Mega Sports on Star 101.5 FM, Lagos, Adesanya, who had also turned up at his academics’ Alma Mata, Chrisland School, during his visit to Lagos, went on to shower accolades on Usman, who he says is a natural-born fighter.
The former Glory Middleweight contender as well as King In The Ring two-time cruiser-weight and heavyweight champion, the most titles by any other fighter in history, said Usman is a natural ‘beast’ in UFC.
Adesanya added: “He is the real beast. He’s naturally made for UFC, while I had to go through several training processes before I got to where I am.
“He has promised me that he will join me for my next visit to Nigeria. In fact, I will do everything to ensure we come together.
“We want to show appreciation to our country for giving us the foundation for what we are doing. We can’t be champs without Nigeria.
“As for anyone who feels what we are doing is very dangerous and risky, I will remind them that even riding okada or keke marwa is also risky.”
