Former Nigeria international Daniel Amokachi has given credit to four Super Eagles stars for shutting down Cameroon during both teams’ clash at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Ivory Coast.
Nigeria defeated Cameroon 2-0 on Saturday night to book their place in the quarterfinal, where they will face Angola.
Ademola Lookman scored the two goals for Jose Peseiro’s side.

Reacting to Nigeria’s victory against the Indomitable Lions, Amokachi, during his Saturday’s commentary on AfroSports AFCON coverage, said the likes of William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina and Semi Ajayi have been really solid at the back for the Super Eagles.
“Eagles defence have been so solid since the start of the competition. The likes of Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, Celvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi have done so well at the back,” the former Everton forward said.
“They made it difficult for Cameroon to make any good chances. Big credit to these guys because they are really solid.”
