AFCON 2023: We have to be champions — Troost-Ekong ahead Cote d’Ivoire clash

William Troost-Ekong has said the Super Eagles are not just contended with reaching the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Jose Peseiro’s side will face the hosts in the final of the competition on Sunday.

The Super Eagles are on course for a fourth title after edging past Bafana Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

The West Africans have recorded five wins and one draw in six outings at the AFCON 2023 finals.

Troost-Ekong stated that winning the competition will be special for the Super Eagles.

“We fought hard to get to the final,” Troost-Ekong told reporters.

“We’re not satisfied to reach the final, we now want to go all the way and win the tournament.

“It will be a tough game, it will be special.

“Everyone is very excited, we don’t need any motivation to play this final of the AFCON.”
