AFCON 2023: We want to leave on positive note — DRC Congo, Desabre

Date:

Democratic Republic of Congo head coach, Sebastien Desabre says it is important for his team to finish their campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on a winning note.

The Leopards will battle for third position when they take on South Africa at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan on Saturday (today).

The Congolese lost 1-0 to hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final on Wednesday.

Desabre reckoned the disappointment is still there but stated that it won’t prevent his side from going for the bronze medal.

“We have to leave on a positive note. We have come a long way, we have shown good things and we do not want a grain of sand to derail the machine,” the Frenchman was quoted by CAFonline.com.

“We will give everything to bring this medal home and present it to the Congolese people who are passionate about football.”
