AFCON 2025 qualifier: ‘Lookman was unstoppable’ – Rohr hails Super Eagles star

Benin Republic head coach Gernot Rohr has conceded that his team was unable to contain Ademola Lookman during their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo on Saturday.

The Atalanta winger scored twice as the Super Eagles defeated the Cheetahs 3-0 in their opening match of the campaign.

Lookman showcased his skill by dribbling past three Benin defenders to score Nigeria’s opener in first-half stoppage time.
He then added a second goal with a header eight minutes from the end.
“I am not surprised by the result as I know the talent and potential of this team,” a gracious Rohr said after the match.

“They played with confidence and flair, and Ademola Lookman was unstoppable.”
