Nigeria manager Jose Peseiro has confirmed that Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho and OGC Nice star Terem Moffi will link up with their international teammates in Côte d’Ivoire this coming weekend.
The Nigeria Football Federation have received the green light from the Confederation of African Football and OGC Nice to include Moffi in the Super Eagles final squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Initially named on the provisional roster, Moffi has benefited from the withdrawal of Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface who was forced to pull out of the squad due to a muscle-tendon injury he suffered in the right adductor area during the training camp in Abu Dhabi.
OGC Nice have delayed Moffi’s trip to Africa to enable him play in Saturday’s Ligue 1 meeting against Rennes and he’s confirmed to be in Nice at the moment as he was spotted training with his teammates on Wednesday.
According to Peseiro, Iheanacho has gotten a clean bill of health from Leicester City’s medical team to join the Super Eagles camp on the eve of their opening match of the tournament against Equatorial Guinea.
“Moffi arrives January 14th because he will play 13th with the team,” Peseiro said to Super Eagles Media Officer, Babafemi Raji.

“Kelechi arrives (January) 13th, we are in contact with the (Leicester City’s) physiotherapist, with the medical staff. We have contact with all the staff of our players.
“For that he’s working there to recover because we have confidence in them. They have good materials, good equipment. They told us he will start training one hundred percent when he arrives.”
While Moffi is all but ruled out of Sunday’s fixture against Equatorial Guinea, Peseiro has to make a decision whether to include Iheanacho in the matchday squad for the game at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Abidjan.
