AFCON Qualifier: 13 Eagles Players Participate In First Training As Two Others Arrive In Abuja

Thirteen Super Eagles player were involved in their first training session of the year in Abuja on Monday as the team began preparations for Friday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers (2023AFCONQ) against Guinea-Bissau.

The training held under the watchful eyes of head coach Jose Peseiro involved twelve players who took full part in the training session held on Monday evening at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Only Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi trained separately from the rest of the squad. The number of players in camp continued to swell by the evening to fifteen (15) out of the invited 23 players already in camp as at 9pm local time.

Team captain Ahmed Musa and his fellow Turkey based star Bright Osayi-Samuel were the two players that arrived after the training session.

The remaining players are expected to arrive on Tuesday morning, including red-hot Napoli forward Victor Osimhen and FC Porto left back Zaidu Sanusi, both of whom played for their clubs on Sunday evening.

The Super Eagles are expected to have two training sessions on Tuesday in Abuja as they build up to the game billed for Friday evening in Abuja.

15 players in camp. Musa, Osayi-Samuel, Akpoguma, Aribo, Lookman, Iwobi, Ajayi, Aniagboso, Uzoho, Ndidi, Bameyi, Omeruo, Onyeka, Simon, Onuachu.
