AFCON qualifier: Osimhen plays under pressure in Eagles shirt, says Peseiro

Date:

Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro has said Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen played under pressure in green-white-green jersey of Nigeria than when he plays for his club, Napoli.

Peseiro in a post match interview by the Super Eagles Media Officer, Babafemi Raji said expecting so much from former Lille striker put him under so much pressure whenever he plays for Nigeria.

Osimhen was unable to score a goal in the Match-day 3 and 4 of the 2023 African Nations Cup qualifier against Guinea Bissau.

When asked on whether his tactics do not fit into Osimhen style of play, Peseiro said Osimhen is one of the hottest striker in the world adding that he feels more comfortable when playing for his club than when he plays for Nigeria.

“Victor belong to the group of the best players in the world and not only in Europe. Peseiro said.

“Sometimes people complaint when the player don’t score. Some times they don’t have to put all the fault and demand on a player. They feel the pressured too. Osimhen can be our match winner and he tried to do that but they think it is important to score. “I think Osimhen feel more pressured in Super Eagles than in Napoli.” He concluded.

Victor Osimhen on Monday in Bissau almost broke the deadlock on 23 minutes after a Guinea-Bissau player was robbed of the ball but the Napoli striker could not direct his shot towards goal.

Victor Osimhen with 5 goals is the highest goal scorer in the 2023 African Nations Cup qualifier.
