AFCON: Semi Ajayi, Super Eagles ever present player in Cote d’Ivoire

West Bromwich Albion centre-back, Semi Ajayi is the only player who has not missed a single minute of action for Nigeria at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cote d’Ivoire.

Ajayi has seen 570 minutes of action for the Super Eagles in the competition.

The defender has made six appearances for Nigeria at the AFCON 2023 finals.

The 33-year-old has formed a formidable partnership with vice-captain William Troost-Ekong and Calvin Bassey at the heart of the Super Eagles defence in the competition.

Ajayi is expected to be named in the starting line-up for Nigeria’s final clash with the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday.

The former Rotherham United player has made 33 appearances for Nigeria with one goal to his name.
