AFCON: Super Eagles Interim Manager Reassures Nigerians

Super Eagles interim manager Augustine Eguavoen has assured Nigerians that the team will be stronger and feared again, and the national team will be back to glory days under his watch.

“This is the same team that has done perfectly well in the past through recently there has been ups and downs in terms of performance. This I think sometimes is normal.

“Something is just wrong somewhere because they are playing the same style of football, same personnel in terms of coaching and playing personnel but we will try to look at it and proffer solutions to it; maybe it’s time for some soul searching for both players and officials to speak up,” Eguavoen said.

SportsDayOnline.com reports that Cerezo, who doubles as the Technical Director of the NFF, insists that everything will be ok with the group again.

“I am on a rescue mission, which is a big challenge and a tough job for me. But I am happy because the assistants appointed to work with me are exposed and experienced coaches. there’s no cause for alarm, nobody should panic.

Everything is under control, hopefully the issues on ground now will be solved and then we’ll come out with a very good outing in Cameroon.”
