Victor Osimhen insists Super Eagles squad members are eager to win back the support of their teaming supporters.
The three-time African champions missed out on a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Jose Peseiro’s side have also struggled in the qualifying series for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations except the away victory against Sao Tome and Principe which they won convincingly 9-0.
On the other hand, Nigeria suffered a shocking 1-0 home defeat to Guinea-Bissau, in their penultimate fixture.
Osimhen, however, said the players are determined to woo the fans back to their side again.
“We want to bring our fans back to our side because we know they are understandably disappointed,” Osimhen was quoted as saying on Lagos-based Brila FM.
“It was disheartening for us when we couldn’t qualify for the World Cup. ”
“We had online abuses. Now it’s behind us but the memories still linger. We will do our best to earn their trust.”
