Date:

The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has stated it will not accept any excuses from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after the NFF withdrew the Super Eagles from the second leg of their Group D 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Nigerian delegation arrived in Libya on Sunday for the match scheduled for Tuesday but experienced severe mistreatment, leading to their decision to return home without playing.

The Nigerian delegation for the Tuesday match had landed in Libya on Sunday but faced inhumane treatment in the Arab country which forced them to return home without playing the game.

Nigerian football authorities alerted the Confederation of African Football, CAF before taking the decision and are now waiting to hear the decision of the continental football body.

The LFF disclosed their decision on X handle Tuesday and shared several photos of the team’s training session ahead of the game.

LFF wrote, “Some may be used to putting up obstacles before the match, but here in the heart of Benghazi, specifically on the grounds of the Martyrs of Benina Stadium, there is no room for excuses after the starting whistle.

“Photos from our national team’s training at the Martyrs of Benina International Stadium, in preparation for the match against Nigeria on Tuesday evening, as part of the fourth round of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.”

LFF had condemned the NFF’s decision to withdraw from the game.
