Nigeria’s Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by Benin Republic on Thursday in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Abidjan.
Benin took the lead in the first half through Mohamed Tijani, with the Cheetahs controlling much of the first 45 minutes.
However, Nigeria fought back in the second half, and Victor Osimhen found the equalizer to level the score.
The result sees Nigeria remain at the top of Group D with 11 points from five matches. Benin are in second place with 7 points from the same number of games.
Meanwhile, Rwanda and Libya sit third and fourth, with 5 and 4 points, respectively, ahead of the final round of group fixtures.
Nigeria, having already secured their place in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, will now focus on their final group match against Rwanda on Monday in Uyo.
Despite the draw, the Super Eagles are in a strong position to finish top of the group.
