President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Chief Tonobok Okowa, who also serves as the Senior Vice President of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) and President of CAA Region 2, has expressed deep appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the recently concluded All Nigeria National Trials in Lagos.
In a statement issued while away on international duty, Chief Okowa commended the collective efforts of all individuals and organizations whose support ensured a smooth and successful championship.
He specifically thanked the National Sports Commission (NSC), describing its leadership as the father of sports in Nigeria for their unwavering support and commitment to the development of athletics in the country.
Chief Okowa also extended his gratitude to members of the AFN board, coaches, athletes, technical and officiating officials, sponsors, media practitioners, and other critical stakeholders who played vital roles in making the national trials a memorable event.
According to him, the successful organisation of the trials once again demonstrates the growing strength of athletics in Nigeria and the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in driving the sport forward.
He praised the athletes for their exceptional performances and competitive spirit, noting that the championship showcased the immense talent Nigeria possesses ahead of future international competitions, including the Commonwealth Games.
Chief Okowa further emphasized that the AFN remains committed to creating opportunities for athletes to excel and ensuring that Nigeria continues to maintain its reputation as a powerhouse in African athletics.
