AFN shifts Golden League by one day, competition to start Friday

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, has shifted by one day its first competition of the year for its elite athletes, the AFN Golden League.

The two-day event was earlier scheduled to hold between May 25 and 26, 2023 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

According to a statement by the federation, the competition will now hold between May 26 and 27, 2023 at the same venue.

‘I am directed to inform you that the AFN Golden League and All Comers competitions scheduled to take place at MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja from 25 – 26th May, 2023 has been shifted by a day.

‘This one day shift is as a result of the cordoning of the stadium based on part of the presidential inauguration programme scheduled to take place in package A on the 25th May, 2023.

‘The programme has now been rescheduled to hold from 26th – 27th May,2023,’ said the AFN in the letter sent to athletics stakeholders.

The AFN says accommodation arrangements have been made at the National Institute for Sports Hostel in Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium for all athletes that have arrived or on their way to compensate the one-day shift of the event.
