Africa Games: Flying Eagles to battle South Sudan today

The Nation’s U20 team the Flying Eagles will face South Sudan in their next match of the ongoing Africa Games in Ghana as the seek earn perhaps the first win.

The Laddan Bosso tutored side went down 2-0 to Uganda in their opening match and currently pointless in the group where Uganda and Senegal all have three points from the first match played.

The team had admitted at the end of the match against Uganda that it was not the result they expected but will now have to double effort to achieve better result against South Sudan if they desire to make an impact in the tournament.

Neither Nigeria nor South Sudan have a point as they go into today’s encounter billed for 9pm at the popular Ohene Djan Sports Stadium (Accra).

In group A Where Republic of Benin, Congo, Gambia and hosts Ghana are competing, it remains an open battle with all the teams having a point each after pulling a draws in their opening matches.

Interestingly in the women category the Falconets will file out against their Senegalese counterparts today.

Falconets are on a consolidation mission after winning their first match 2-0 against Morocco to lead the group with three points.

The remaining teams in the group, viz Senegal, Cameroon and Morocco are without points. In group A where hosts Ghana are competing with Tanzania, Uganda and Ethiopia, Ghana lead the pack with three points in the kitty after beating Ethiopia 1-0 in the opener.
