African Games 2023: Falconets pip Uganda 2-0 to seal final spot

Substitutes Okay Adaobi and Chiamaka Okwuchukwu scored the winning goal as the Falconets defeated Uganda 2-0 to seal a place in the final of the African Games 2023.

Adaobi took the place of Olushola Shobowale in the 74th minute and scored with her first touch of the game.

Okwuchukwu added the second one a minute from time.

The Ugandans put up a resolute display in the game keeping the Falconets at bay until they conceded twice in the last 16 minutes.

The East Africans will now fight for the bronze medal in the women’s football event.

Holders Falconets will face the winner of the second semi-final between hosts Ghana and Senegal in the final.
