Graciously gifted and experienced goalkeeper of Rivers United, Abiodun Akande, showed class in their 2-0 away loss to USM Algiers in the CAF Confederations cup, in Algeria over the weekend.
Akande who was brilliant in goal for Rivers United, made more than ten good saves in that match, to make sure his team were not beaten woefully in that game.
Akande, who has been in fine form for Rivers this season, was able to keep their opponents at bay with his wonderful performances and saves to the appreciation of the fans present at the stadium.
Akande who spoke through a close source, said he is not happy with the result, but that, he is happy the team gave a very good account of themselves and that they hope to do better next time.

” I want to say, I am not happy with the result, but I am pleased with the performance of his team. I am proud with my performance and that of my teammates, we gave our best, but we lost, we hope to bounce back next time and we hope to get better results in future” he said.
“I will continue to give my best for Rivers United, I thank my team mates and the management for their support and their basic principles of decorum, hard work and discipline. I pray we get better results and win trophies in future for Rivers United’ he concluded.
