Despite still recovering from a cruciate ligament injury which has kept him out of action since April last year and the winter transfer window already ended in Europe, Hamdi Akujobi has agreed a one and a half year deal with Eredivise side, Excelsior Rotterdam.
The former Almere City right wing back, signed with Rotterdam as a free agent, having run out of contract with his former employers which he was poised to leave before injury struck.
In a statement on their official website, the Dutch Eredivisie club, Excelsior Rotterdam announced the signing of Akujobi.

Although the Dutch transfer window closed two weeks ago, the deal was completed because the defender was a free agent before the winter market closed.

Akujobi, who is almost 90% ready from his injury setback will complete his rehabilitation with the Kralingers.
The 26 year-old who is admired by the Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, sustained the injury during Almere City’s 2-1 loss to his former club, Heerenveen on April 19.
Meanwhile, Akujobi’s options are still wide open as the deal with Rotterdam is flexible and allows him to leave should a better offer come or stay to see off his contract which ends in the summer of 2028.
