Hamdi Akujobi has been named for the third straight week in the Elftal van de Week (Team of the Week) in Holland following another impressive performance against Ajax Amsterdam on Sunday in the Dutch Eredivisie.
The Almere City right wing back continued from where he stopped last weekend when his side faced off with another giant, Feyenoord in a slim 2-1 defeat despite being in control the entire 90 minutes in the away encounter.
Akujobi, unfortunate to be on the losing side again at the weekend, as his side succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Ajax, but that didn’t take away anything from his sterling displays being noticed as he was adjudged good enough to make the Team of the Week for the third consecutive week.
The Team of the Week have Akujobi in a back four in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
“I feel highly elated for this recognition. But trust me, my joy would have been complete had we won these games, Akujobi told us.
“I’ll however continue to give my best to the team while hoping that we can beat the drop.
“Our fans and management deserves it, which is why we will fight to finish”, Akujobi assured.
Almere is still rooted in the bottom of the league table with 14 points after 24 matches played.
