Akujobi Sparkles Again As Almere Pick First Season Win

Date:

Almere City in form right wing back, Hamdi Jobi Akujobi shone like a million stars as his team picked their first win this season in an Eredivisie game played Friday, against NEC Nijmegen.

Smarting from a very valuable 2-2 away draw last weekend at Sparta Rotterdam, Almere City were determined to clinch all three points at home this weekend. Their determination paid off in the 79 minute when an own goal from T. Ouwejan gifted them the lead.

The scoreline stayed the same till the end of the final whistle guarantee Almere their first three points this season after ten matches played.

Almere still occupies the 17th position with 6 points after garnering a win, three draws and six loses in 10 games.

If they can sustain the momentum, then they stand a chance to get out of the murky relegation waters very soon.

Akujobi was substituted in the 85th minute after he received a knock to avoid further complicating the injury.

The injury doesn’t seem too serious as he looks good to go for their next encounter.

The match was played at the Yanmar Stadion, home ground for Almere City.
