Former Super Eagles striker, Benedict Akwuegbu has been appointed the Caretaker Committee chairman of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) Plateau state chapter.
This was communicated in a letter by its President, Comrade Tijani Babangida dated February 10, 2025 and signed by their General Secretary, Austin Godwin Fuludu.
It read: “this is to confirm to you Comrade Benedict Akwuegbu that you have been appointed as Caretaker Committee chairman of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) PLATEAU State Chapter by the President, Comrade Tijani Babangida (MON) effective 10th February, 2005, for a period not exceeding a period of two years, until formal elections are held in the Plateau state.
Eleven other persons were also listed on the Caretaker Committee Board to work with Akwuegbu in the state with the charge to hold PFAN values to the highest esteem.
“You will act with the under listed officials and hold the PFAN ideals to the highest esteem, the letter stated.

Akwuegbu is also the consultant on Sports to the Plateau state governor, Caleb Muftwang with his primary assignment with Plateau united.
