Akwuegbu Convocates At Ruskin University

Ex- Super Eagles forward, Benedict Akwuegbu on Friday was one of the convocating students at UK university, Angel Ruskin.

The former international bagged a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing from the prestigious institution.

The convocation ceremony which was held at the institution’s campus at Chelmsford Cathedral, New Street, Chelmsford, in London, attracted family and friends of the graduands at the occasion.

Akwuegbu joins the growing list of former Super Eagles players that went back to school after their playing career which is very commendable.

Others are Segun Odegbami, Adokiye Amiesimaka, Seyi Olofinjana are amongst the former international that have one degree or the other.

Speaking to us after the event, Akwuegbu gave all the glory to God while also praising his determination to achieve it.

“I thank God for this day. It’s a dream come true for me, begins an ecstatic Akwuegbu.

“It wasn’t really that easy but I was determined to achieve it.

“I’m happy that I eventually made it.

“My thanks goes to my lecturers, classmates, family, friends and fans for their tremendous support and encouragement.

“This wouldn’t have been possible without these people and I’m in deed grateful to them all”, he said.

The ‘Austrian Bomber’ as Akwuegbu was fondly called by his fans during his illustrious football career, hinted on his plan to continue with his university education without break.

“I intend to continue with my university education and new career even up to my doctorate.

“It will be challenging though but I’m equal to the task”, he concluded.

Some notable UK universities have been angling to offer him admission into their school for  further studies.
