Akwuegbu Receives Sports Legend Man of the Year Award

Ex-Super Eagles star, Benedict Akwuegbu has received the Sports Legend Man of the Year 2023 award from Sports Legendary Awards, a private and an independent organization for his immense contributions to sports development.

The awards which was held recently in Abuja, saw the former AK Grazer of Austrian goal-machine beating other sports icons in that category to land the award.

Although, the Japan/Korea 2002 world cup player could not be present to pick up the award personal due to his final University examination which coincided with the date, but he sent his wife, Mrs. Ruth Akwuegbu to represent him and receive the awards on his behalf, to show how highly he appreciates and regards the organizers of the awards.

“I certainly have received many awards both during my active playing days and after my career but this one is special to me and I cherish it most sincerely.

“I want to thank the organizers of this awards for finding me worthy for recognition. God bless you greatly.

“For those who were in the same category with me but didn’t win, I say we are all winners.

“This no doubt will spur me to do even more because I was honestly just doing my thing but little did I know that people were watching and taking notes.

“Thank you once again and to God almighty this is for you”, he concluded.

Akwuegbu is back to classes again and currently studying Mental Health at the Angel Ruskin University London.
