Alex Iwobi says he will be back in action soon following the injury he copped in Everton’s 3-1 FA Cup loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Friday.
The Nigerian fell awkwardly after a challenge from defender Tyrell Malacia early in the second half of Everton’s 3-1 FA Cup third round defeat to Manchester United. He was unable to continue and had to be taken off on a stretcher in tears.
Everton gaffer, Frank Lampard expressed hope after the game the 26 year old’s ankle ligament injury is “not too serious” after confirming the Everton midfielder will go for a scan on Saturday.
Lampard told evertontv after the game: “We hope it’s not too serious.
“It is an ankle ligament injury, we hope it’s a lesser one. He will have a scan tomorrow (Saturday) to confirm.”
The former Arsenal player took to his twitter page Saturday to appreciate the concern expressed over his injury and assured he will be back playing very soon.
‘Appreciate The Love, Back Soon.’ the Nigerian wrote.
Unconfirmed reports linked to family members say the Nigerian will be back playing in two weeks.
Iwobi has featured in and started every game the Toffees had played so far this season and has scored just once and bagged six assists in 21 games so far this term. The goal and five of the assists came in 18 Premier League games.
