Amusan to battle world leader, Charlton in Boston on Sunday

Reigning world 100m hurdles record holder, Tobi Amusan and reigng world leader in the 60m hurdles, Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas will face each other for the fourth time over the 60m hurdles short track at the New Balance Grand Prix, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting in Boston on Sunday

The duo last clashed over the distance in March 2018 when the Bahamian defeated the Nigerian for the second time in three clashes.

It was at the World Indoor championships in Birmingham where the Nigerian ran 7.91 to come third in the first semifinal. Charlton ran 7.89 to place second inthe semifinal heat.

On Sunday, Amusan will not only be keen to equal their head-to-head record, she will also target the 7.75 world leading time ran by the Bahamian at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas on January 20, 2024.

The 26 year old Nigerian ran a new 7.77 African record in Astana, Kazakhstan seven days later and will be eager to improve on that as she seeks to become the first Nigerian to win a World indoor and a world outdoor title.

Oudoors, Amusan towers over Charlton as the Nigerian holds a 20-2 head-to-head record against the 2022 World Indoor Championships silver medalist.
