Self-proclaimed transfer market expert Nicolò Schira has claimed that Arsenal hold concrete interest in signing Netherlands U21 international of Nigerian descent Joshua Zirkzee.

Schira has revealed that the Gunners will have a scout in attendance during Monday’s Serie A meeting between Roma and Bologna and his mission at the Stadio Olimpico (Roma) is to take a closer look at Zirkzee.

Top European clubs are closely monitoring Zirkzee and it has been claimed the Dutch-Nigerian is a top target to bolster Arsenal’s attack for the 2024-2025 season.

As per the report, negotiations have already started between the leadership of Arsenal and Zirkzee’s camp for a contract until 2029, with a salary of six million euros per season.

The 22-year-old has also been linked with Napoli as a potential replacement for Victor Osimhen, who is poised to end his four-year association with the Blues in the off-season despite signing a contract extension last December.

However, the prospects of Napoli prising the striker away from Napoli looks slim, considering the fact that the 2022-2023 Serie A champions would struggle to offer him the same wages as Arsenal and other prominent clubs vying for his services.

Zirkzee has further bolstered his already growing reputation through a series of outstanding performances for Thiago Motta’s team this season, registering seventeen goal involvements (11 goals, 6 assists) in 33 outings across all competitions.

Manchester United, AC Milan and Juventus are all reportedly keen on Zirkzee who is contracted to Bologna until June 30, 2026.
