Aruna Quadri begins quest for $800,000 prize money in Macao

Date:

Aruna Quadri says he’s not afraid of Olympic champion and home favourite Ma Long ahead of their showdown at the World Table Tennis Championship in Macao.

Quadri will face the Chinese in the first round of the men’s singles of tournament this Tuesday.

The Nigerian is coming to the tournament on the back of disappointing outing at the WTT Champions Xinxiang, where he bowed out in the first round last week.

Speaking ahead of his first game, Quadri said: “There is no doubt that this is another tough match for me but I
am going out there again to give my best because nothing is certain in the competition; everybody is in good form and nobody is sure of winning every match,” he said.

“It is 50-50 against any opponent in the competition. There is no doubt that it is the biggest gathering of the best players in the world, and I am hoping that my best will see me through this time around.”

The winner of the tournament will smile home with $800,000 prize money and 1000 ranking points.
