Asisat Oshoala scored her seventh goal for Bay FC, but her team suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat against reigning NWSL Champions NJ/NY Gotham FC on Saturday night at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.
The Nigerian striker equalized for her side in the 18th minute after NJ/NY Gotham FC had taken the lead in the ninth minute. Oshoala curled a strike into the right corner of the goal after receiving a perfectly weighted through ball from Zambia’s Racheal Kundananji.
NJ/NY Gotham FC however scored three second half goals within a spate of four minutes to turn the tide in their favour with Rose Lavelle scoring the fifth goal with six minutes left in regulation time.

The loss did not however change Bay FC’s play off position as the club still sit eighth with three matches remaining.
For Oshoala, this goal marked her third consecutive away strike, and she has scored six of her seven goals this season on the road.
The Nigerian is now Bay FC’s top scorer in the regular season and ranks as the sixth-highest scorer in the NWSL this season.
