Awoniyi boost as striker making good steps in recovery

Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest’s forward, Taiwo Awoniyi is on the road to recovery following a groin injury, with aspirations to regain fitness for the latter part of the campaign.

The striker faced a setback after undergoing surgery post a groin injury sustained during FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho in Uyo.

Initially ruled out for several months, casting doubt on his participation in African Cup of Nations, Awoniyi is now likely to make a quick return to training than earlier suggested.

In a recent Instagram post, the 26 year-old shared a video of himself back on the training ground, accompanied by the caption ‘He’s never late’.

Though Nottingham Forest has yet to provide a precise return update, Awoniyi’s potential comeback is a significant morale boost, for the club and national team.
