Ayeni, Eguma, Mboama Shortlisted For APRIL LBA Gong

Nigeria’s foremost League Awards, the League Bloggers Awards (LBA) has shortlisted four coaches and players each, in its monthly Coach and Player of the Month awards for April 2022.

Sponsored by Lagos based Logistics provider, OverXpress, the awards celebrate outstanding performers in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Nominees for the Coach of the Month Award include Deji Ayeni of Akwa United, Stanley Eguma of Rivers United and Fidelis Ilechukwu of Plateau United and
Aliyu Zubairu of Gombe United.

Ayeni, Eguma and Ilechukwu are previous winners, while Zubairu, will be making his second nomination.

In the race for the Player of the Month Award are the quartet of Victor Mbaoma (Enyimba),
Abdulazeez Yusuf (Gombe United), Abubakar Aliyu (Wikki Tourists) and Osy Martins (Rangers).

Barely a month in charge with Akwa United after leaving Sunshine Stars, Ayeni led the “Promise Keepers” to an unbeaten run of six (6) matches in the month under review.

The Uyo based team earned two points on the road at Kano Pillars and Gombe United and accumulated 12 points.

Eguma who won the award for his team’s impressive performance in January made the list after accumulating 13points and going five (5) games unbeaten, with a vital win on the road at Kastina United.

The duo of Zubairu and Ilechukwu were also unbeaten in five (5) and four (4) matches each and garnered 11 and 10 points, respectively.

For the first time in the 2022 edition of the League Bloggers Award (LBA), a player scored an impressive five (5) goals as against the previous months.

Enyimba’s marksman leads the race for Player of the Month Award having bagged five strikes in April. The former Remo Stars captain scored in the People’s Elephant 2-0 win over Wikki Tourists and grabbed two brace against Rangers in the Oriental Derby and another against Kano Pillars.

The trio of Abdulazeez Yusuf (Gombe United), Abubakar Aliyu (Wikki Tourists) and Osy Martins (Rangers) scored three goals each to earn their places in this exclusive list.

Winners of both categories will be announced this week.
