Azeez Excited To Score 100 Super Sand Eagles’ Goals

Super Sand Eagles veteran, Abu Azeez has admitted he is totally excited that he was able to hit his 100th goal for Nigeria at the African Beach Soccer Cup of Nations.

Azeez took his tally to 103 with the Nigerian squad, as he helped them beat Egypt 7-6 on Wednesday and pick a ticket to the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, after which he spoke about his excitement.

Abu’s day with history came on a day the Nigerian team pulled off multiple heroics against the African Beach Soccer Cup of Nations hosts, and equally reached their third final in the competition’s history.

Azeez was ecstatic, after reaching the milestone and surpassing it, with four goals in the semi-final victory against the hosts, Egypt, after which he reeled out his appreciation.

Azeez scored four goals to take his tally for Nigeria to 103, as he inspired Nigeria to a 7-6 victory in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

Azeez earlier scored twice in Nigeria’s group stage win over Libya on Sunday and once against Tanzania on Monday to take his scoring tally to 99, thereby setting up a decisive contest against the hosts.

The Sand Eagles put aside their problems before the event to beat their hosts and qualify for next year’s Beach Soccer World Cup, becoming the first team to book their place at the 2019 Mundial in Paraguay.

Apart from Azeez’s four, Emeka Ogbonna contributed a brace, while Taiwo Adams scored the other, to reach the climax game on Friday in Sharm El Sheikh.

Azeez stated: “Double celebration for me, qualifying for the World Cup next year in Paraguay and reaching my 100 beach soccer goals.

“Such a great feat. Thank you Nigerians for the support. Thank you to my coaches and all my team mates.”

Victor Moses Marks 28th Birthday With Injury

Chelsea of England winger, Victory Moses marked his 28th birthday with another injury, as learnt that the former Super Eagles star had to be excused from training all through this week due to a knock.

The development accounted for another absence for Moses from The Blues’ squad for their Europa League last group clash away to Vidi of Hungary, which coincided with his birthday and could have been an opportunity for him to get a special gift with the London-based team.

Although Moses has not enjoyed a look-in with Chelsea’s matchday squads since the arrival of Maurizio Sarri as gaffer, the Italian tactician was reportedly ready to give him some time in the dead rubber match, only to change his mind due to the player’s fitness issue.

It was gathered further that Moses was omitted from the Chelsea squad that traveled to Hungary on Wednesday afternoon, as Sarri excused him from the team’s training at Cobham due to an undisclosed injury.

Moses, who celebrated his 28th birthday on Friday, has been out of favour since the former Napoli coach took over from Antonio Conte in July 2018, and a departure from Stamford Bridge is in the offing for him.

Moses has already been linked with the club that shot him to liemlight, Crystal Palace and fellow-London-based strugglers, Fulham, amidst growing speculation that he will leave Chelsea in January.

He has made two appearances for The Blues in this season’s Europa League, after coming off the bench in the home wins against Vidi and BATE Borisov, but missed out of a chance for a final show in the race.
