Badminton Federation Boss Relishes Successful Hosting

Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) president, Francis Orbih has stated delight with the country’s successful hosting of the All Africa Senior Badminton Championships at Diette Spiff Civic Centre in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The championship has already reached feverish point, with the singles slated to commence on Friday and run till Sunday when the competition will be declared closed.

Orbih was equally excited with the peromances of Nigeria in the team events, as the hosts defeated favourites Mauritius 3-2 to claim gold in the mixed event of the championship.

The pair of Anuoluwapo Opeyori and Dorcas Adesokan defeated Julien Paul and Kune Foo 21-19, 21-19 in the mixed double to win the gold, after an encounter that went to the wire,

Both teams were tied at 2-2 heading the final game, before Mauritius evenutally bowed, much to the delight of the Nigerian players, who celebrated the win with Orbih, who admitted he was excited by the win.
