France striker, Karim Benzema has responded to Lionel Messi’s Ballon d’ Or 2022 claims.
Messi had a few days ago backed Benzema to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.
The Argentine insisted there is ‘no doubt’ in his mind the Real Madrid attacker should win the 2022 Ballon d’Or.
Reacting to Messi’s words after France’s UEFA Nations League 2-1 defeat to Denmark on Friday, Benzema told ESPN: “Yes, yes, I saw the words from Messi.
“Words from a player like him, it gives me more motivation to make my things better.”
Benzema, meanwhile, scored France’s only goal against Denmark.
The 33-year-old will hope to lead France to victory when they face Croatia in their next game on Monday.
