Ballon d’ Or 2022: Organizers announce date for award ceremony

Date:

Ballon d’Or organizers, France Football, has announced this year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony will be held in October 2022.

The 2021 Ballon d’Or will now be given to the best player over a standard European season rather than during a calendar year.

The 2021-22 campaign will end with the 2022 Women’s Euros, and the 2022 World Cup will be included in the 2022-23 awards.

France Football had earlier announced that they have made changes to the Ballon d’Or.

The Ballon d’ Or will now take into account players’ performances during a season (August-July) and not a calendar year (January-December).

This means that the next edition will be for the 2021/22 season and not 2022.
