As negotiations with Robert Lewandowski seem to be held to a stalemate, Barcelona have earmarked the Juventus marksman Alvaro Morata as an alternative signing.
So far this season, the 29 year-old Spaniard has been in impressive form for the Bianconeri as he tallied a total of eight goals and six assists in 34 games played within the Serie A.
Despite the arrival of the Serbian international Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina throughout the winter transfer window, Juventus were keen to make Morata’s loan from Atletico Madrid permanent as they viewed the well-documented forward as a fundamental piece within the puzzle.
However, with only two games remaining until this year’s Serie A campaign comes to a close, Allegri’s side still have not triggered the Spanish international’s €40M buy-out transfer fee.
According to reports from Spanish journalist Juan Salvado, the Blaugrana are assessing the situation very carefully as they are eager to lure the prolific goal-scorer to the Camp Nou ahead of next season.
The Catalonian giants have attempted to sign Morata in the winter transfer window, but have failed to complete the acquisition due to complications as Atletico Madrid were unwilling to pay the required fee for the striker to return from his loan spell.
However, while talks with the Polish international are currently held to a stall, Barcelona have rekindled their interest within Morata as they strongly believe that the Spanish international can play a pivotal role in bolstering their squad depth within the front-line.
