Basketball: D’Tigers Crash Out Of 2023 FIBA Afrocan

Date:

Hope of Nigeria’s D’Tigers getting a podium finish in this year Afrocan championship has finally become an illusion after their failure to pick the semi-final ticket.

After suffering a defeat against the host Angola, D’Tigers bounced back strongly to beat Gabon comfortably on Wednesday and booked a place in the quarter-final.

They faced the 2019 champions DR Congo on Thursday afternoon and lost narrowly by a 2-point gap.

DR Congo dominated the first quarter and clinched a 31-19 win, D’Tigers claimed the remaining 3 sets 18-14, 17-14 and 18-15 and it was not enough as the first set wide margin gave the Congolese a 64-62 victory.
