* As 2023/2024 NLO New Season Beckons
Nationwide League One, NLO, side, Ben Akwuegbu FC will resume training on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, in readiness for the upcoming season, the club has said.
The high -flying team, which is currently featuring in the third-tier of Nigerian league, according to the President cum Proprietor of the club, former Super Eagles star, Benedict Akwuegbu, revealed that the team has set a promotion target for themselves.
“Our target is very simple and clear, which is we want to gain promotion to the NNL as our ultimate dream is to play in the NPFL in no distance time.
“We are barely two years old but we are focused and committed to actualizing our target.
“Coach Sam Pam Jnr. with his team did a very good job last season but we want to raise the bar this time around”, Akwuegbu stated.
The team, which is the second highest paying side in the NLO, after Plateau United that is government owned, already has five of their players doing their thing in different clubs in Europe, two in Austria, another two in Belgium and one in Switzerland.
But that notwithstanding, the team is determined to keep creating the opportunities for talented young players to live the dreams.
