Bet9ja Foundation, in collaboration with its most outstanding agent in Ikorodu; agent 0563SA, Mayowa Salawu, hosted the 2nd edition of its glamorous CSR 8-team knockout tournament last month, from the 14th to the 22nd of October 2023, thereby making a formidable impact on the footballing culture of the area, as budding talents from all over participated in the well -organised and well-coordinated tournament which rewarded them for their efforts and their passion with mouth-watering team and individual prizes.
The 9-day tournament which held on the standard soccer pitch of the Landmark College, Ojokoro, kicked off on a high note to see the eventual 1st runners-up, Inspire SC, winning the opening cracker via a penalty shootout, after a one-all draw in the electrifying series, making it all the way, to face eventual winners, Victory FC, in an exciting and glamorous finale despite an unfair weather situation, where they ironically lost via penalties.
The winning Team, Victory FC, managed by veteran Coach Agali who is an ex-professional himself, went home with the tournament trophy, gold medals and a cash prize of N400,000, while the 1st and 2nd runners-up went home with the Silver and Bronze medals, as well as N300,000 and N200,000 respectively. naira in the mix, and cash prizes were equally awarded to the Most Valuable Player (MVP), Highest Goal Scorer, and the Best GoalKeeper, making the tournament the most expensive in Ikorodu West LCDA.
In appreciation of his contributions to the development of grassroots sports also, Mayowa Salawu, Bet9JA agent 0563SA, was awarded as the Online Publishers, Editors and Reporters Association of Nigeria (OPERAN) Grassroots Sporting Personality of the Year, while his able assistant, Tega Awhanatefe, was conferred with the DASCENARIO Youth Sports Ambassador award by Online media guru, PR specialist and seasoned match commentator, Alfred Abiodun, on behalf of the appreciative online media community.
While giving his vote of thanks, Salawu thanked the community on behalf of Bet9JA Foundation, promising to host more glamorous editions of the tournament in different categories, to further develop young talents and lend a platform to their aspirations.
