Bolaji to Compete for Historic Paralympic Bronze

Nigeria’s badminton star Eniola Bolaji fought valiantly but fell 0-2 to China’s Xiao Zuxian in the women’s Singles SL3 semifinals at the Paralympic Games in France. Bolaji, who has set several records, narrowly lost 16-21, 17-21. She will now compete for the bronze medal against Oksana Kozyna of Ukraine tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.

Eniola became the  first African Para-athlete to make the semifinals of the Paralympic badminton tournament after recording a straight set victory 2-0 (21-8, 21-9) over India’s Mandeep Kaur in the women’s Singles SL3 quarterfinals.

Elsewhere in the women’s Singles, Para-Table Tennis Class 10 at the Paralympic Games, Nigeria’s Faith Obazuaye lost her Round of 16 match to Chinese Taipei’s Wen Shiau Tian, who won the match in a straight set.

Tian secured a 3-0 (11- 4, 11- 8 , 11 – 3) victory to progress to the quarterfinals of the Games.
