Box 2 Box FC have emerged champions of the inaugural edition of the United Elites Football Championship Super 8 after defeating Dominion Hotspur FC 1-0 in a keenly contested final in Lagos.
The game which was played Thursday at the Legacy Pitch, Surulere, Lagos, witnessed both sides coming out with their A game, as the match went end-end to the delight of the fans who kept cheering and applauding every beautiful move made by the players.
It was a very tight game of two halves as reflected in the scoreline. The first half went to Box 2 Box while Dominion Hotspur took commanding position in the second but unfortunately lost the game in the same half through a last minute grasp goalkeeping error.
Speaking immediately after the match, the winning team’s coach, Reuben Randy, coach of Box 2 Box FC praised the doggedness of his players saying that focus, discipline and dedication was behind their success on the day.
He said it was a difficult game but that because his players were discipline and listened to the bench they were able to surmount their opponents.
“I want to thank God for our victory today.
“My players showed character, discipline, doggedness and dedication. It was a very difficult game but because they listened to the bench we were able to outwit our opponents.
Special thanks to the Chairman UFC, Emmanuel Udeogu, the Secretary, Frank Orji and the entire LOC members for putting up such a laudable competition.
“Our target next will be to win the league also”, he concluded.
National U-17 coach,. Nduka Ugbade who graced the occasion was full of praises for the organizers of the league.
Meanwhile, UFC league winners, Glorious Day FC that won the regular season were also presented with their trophy.
Other dignitaries that attended the occasion are the Surulere LGA Chairman amongst others.
