Boxers Shines As YBL Season 2 Kicks-Off In Lagos

The highly anticipated Yucateco boxing league Season 2 gets on the way in Lagos on Sunday. The week 1 round of bouts was held at Jevinik Place, Ikeja GRA Lagos.

Hostilities got on the way on the night with a fierce battle in the men’s 51kg category were Taiwo Adebayo of AGB Splendid boxing club defeated Samuel Dahunsi of OGBAS Families BC 3-2. Also in the men’s 51kg, Anjorin Al- Ameen of YS Rano boxing club secured a 3-2 victory against Lateef Adeleke of “OMO Better” boxing club.

It’s was a one-sided contest in yet another 51kg men’s bout as Sultan Adekonya of ESPITA boxing club made a light work of Abijuwon Faruk of TIZIMI BC. The men’s 57kg bout also gave the crowd plenty to cheer as both pugilists showed plenty of grit, but at the end Rasak Erinfolami of OGBAS boxing club came out tops with a 3-2 victory against Ajisola Habeeb of AGB Splendid. YS Rano’s Abass Ganiu dazzled the fans in his 3-2 triumph over Basit Olayiwola of OMO Better boxing club in their men’s 57kg bout.

Ramadan Abiodun of Tizimi BC did not fall short of his prematch hype as he secured a hard fought 3-2 victory against Ogunremi Michael of ESPITA boxing club, while Quadri Ilori of GBAS Families BC pummeled Hassan Taiwo of AGB boxing club 5-0 in their men’s 53kg encounter.

Chairman CEO of Yucateco Boxing Promotions Omonlei Yakubu Imadu, said the outfit hopes to build on the successes recorded in the opening bouts as they eye more fans turnout in subsequent fight week.

Action resumes on Friday August 16th in Yaba for the week 2 round of bouts. Twelve boxing clubs are competing for the 50 million naira prize money on offer in season 2 of the widely followed boxing league.
